What it does
The Gemini agent is a work agent announced by Google Cloud on 8 October 2026. A user gives it an objective rather than step-by-step instructions; it plans the work, can create temporary sub-agents for parallel or sequential steps, connects to company systems and returns finished work in documents, the inbox or developer tools, and long jobs keep running after the user closes their laptop. Organisations can also set up coworker agents with their own identity, email address and storage. It works on the web, mobile, Windows and Mac, the command line, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and Slack. The announcement does not give a release date, plan or price; industry versions for Financial Services and Legal are in preview.
