What it does
Copilot Autopilot, previously called Scout, is a persistent agent that runs in the cloud inside an organisation's Microsoft 365 tenant with its own identity, memory, computer and workspace. A user gives it a name, a role and a goal along with boundaries; it watches channels, follows up on threads, runs recurring work and picks a project back up days later without a new prompt, for example running a supplier review from schedule to stakeholder updates. People reach it by mentioning it in Teams, Outlook, chats, channels and documents. Microsoft announced on 25 September 2026 that it was expanding to private preview at the end of that month, billed on a usage basis with no published rate.
